In the surfing world they say “go big or go home,” but Albanian artist Saimir Strati seems to be doing the same with his mosaics. Over the last 6 years he’s set an astounding 6 back-to-back Guinness World Records with his artwork… it’s almost getting to be an annual tradition.

To set his records Strati has used a number of different materials, a new one each year – nails, toothpicks, corks, paint brushes, screws, coffee beans – each time producing the largest version of a mosaic using that material. Don’t let that make you think his works are simply record-setting attempts from an untalented artist, in actuality they are highly beautiful and exceptionally well planned examples of the craft… and in the case of his Leonardo Da Vinci, extremely painterly.

Adding to the pressure of his world records, each piece of art is a live performance attended by many viewers in a public setting. Slowly, over days of intensive labor, Strati creates his works under the full scrutiny of watching passer-by. For a detailed look at all his records see his Wikipedia page.
